The freestyle revolution enters new territory. Urban Roosters, creators of the acclaimed Freestyle Master Series (FMS), have officially announced the launch of FMS UK, the league’s first-ever English-speaking edition. This marks a historic milestone for a movement that began in Spain in 2017 and has since transformed the global culture of improvised rap.
The expansion into the United Kingdom taps into the nation’s deep-rooted musical legacy, particularly in grime, hip-hop, and spoken word. “The UK has always been a powerhouse of lyrical innovation,” said the CEO of Urban Roosters. “From grime cyphers to poetry slams, there’s a rawness and authenticity that aligns perfectly with our vision. FMS UK is our way of honoring that spirit and elevating it to the global stage.”
Auditions Set for Summer 2025
Auditions for FMS UK will take place in Bristol, London, Glasgow, and Manchester throughout July and August 2025. The process will select 10 standout MCs to form the inaugural roster of the league, which will kick off with a five-date national season in 2026.
Application Requirements:
- Applicants must be 18 to 30 years old
- Must be unsigned and not under management
- Submit a 30-second freestyle video via the official form
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to in-person auditions, judged by a panel of special guests. Selected MCs will receive a monthly salary throughout the season — a bold step toward the professionalization of English-language freestyle.
FMS UK: Road to the League
After auditions:
- 60 MCs will be chosen for qualifying events
- Three events in London will take place from September to December 2025, featuring 20 MCs each
- The winner of each event will earn a direct spot in the 2026 FMS UK league
A Growing Global Community
Since its inception, FMS has expanded to Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia, the Caribbean, and Brazil, drawing crowds of over 30,000 attendees and generating more than 32 billion views on YouTube. In 2024, Urban Roosters introduced the FMS World Series, an international tour where top-tier MCs battle on the biggest stages. With FMS UK, the league embraces a new audience and strengthens its mission to make freestyle a truly global cultural force.
